The Graupner MULTIBOAT is based on a French pilot boat. The dockyard uses this type as the basis for various other specialised vessels for the police, coastguard, lifeguard, fire service, customs and harbour services.
The design of the model makes it ideal as an easy start into boat modelling, as all the preparation for the potentially difficult stages is already completed.Nevertheless, the non-critical steps are left for the would-be model builder to carry out, thereby imparting the basic skills of marine modelling.
The hull and deck are machine-trimmed, thereby eliminating the tedious task of cutting out these parts.
All superstructure components are supplied as laser-cut ABS items which simply need to be slotted together and glued. Once again, no cutting is involved.
The model has to be painted, but again the modular construction makes this much simpler, as many parts are only assembled or attached to the boat when they have been painted.
The fittings are supplied as injection-moulded components, and are simply glued in place.
The fire monitor auxiliary working system can be installed in the finished model at any time. The silicone hose and intake tube are included in the basic kit.
The fire monitor and pump are easy to install subsequently.
The building instructions describe the installation ofadditional optional working systems in the form of a lighting system and rotating radar antenna.
The additional accessories required for these systems are listed in the building instructions.
